I was afraid of the dark as a boy; unknown creatures down obscured corridors filled my imagination. Growing, I’ve learned that fear coming from the unknown is fear I should move toward. So I work with the dark: in pitch black I switch on a dim light, focused so only the most elegant shadows are cast. I hold up dynamic puppets, everyday objects, and my own limbs. I project Expressionistic characters on screens and surfaces to tell stories that arouse the capacity for wonder.
